HAND PAINTED Civil War Toy Soldiers Union 149th New York on Culps Hill:
$50.00

You are offerding on SIX of my hand painted 54mm Civil War Union 149th New York Regiment during their heroic stand on Culps hill on Day 2 and 3 at Gettysburg in 1863! This Civil War Volunteer Regiment, hailed from the Syracuse, New York, area, and fought alongside their sister Regiment, the 122nd New York, also from the same area of the State, for the first and only time during the whole Civil War! Together, as Part of General Greene\'s Brigade, they turned away the Louisiana Tigers and everything else thrown at them, which held the opposite side of the \"fish hook\" line that the Union army defended successfully on Day 2 and on Day 3 (July 2nd and 3rd).
A monument to this Battle and for all the Upstate NY Soldiers who fought in the War depicts a critical part of the battle, when the color bearer of the 149th NY, Sergeant William Lilly, who was placed between the two regiments for them to hold their defensive positions, experience fire so severe that his Flagstaff was literally sawed in half, and fell to the ground. Lilly leapt over the entrenchments in the midst of the battle, retrieved his Flag, and then took his belt and tied the two sections of the pole together and raised it up again! His Flag had over 80 bullet holes in it that day, but Lilly is not only depicted on the Syracuse Soldiers and Sailors Monument, but also in a bas relief plaque on the regimental monument in Gettysburg!
The figures I used in this vignette are primarilyAccurate and Imexfigures, including two customized figures, the officer pointing at the unseen attacking Confederates, and the kneeling figure with his rifle \"at ready\"; both of these figures had head and kepi changes from the stock heads which were not as realistic as I deem acceptable! Also included with this set you receive the featured hand painted and rendered Color Bearer representing Sergeant Lilly early in the battle, one standing firing rifleman, one kneeling firing pose, and one soldier loading his rifle!
The figures come dressed in their typical Union uniforms, wearing their customary Union uniforms with dark blue\"sack\" coats and sky blue trousers, with their weapons and equipment accurately depicted! And keep in mind I combine shipping with multiple set purchases to save you on shipping! After hand painting all of my soldiers and accessories with quality acrylic paints (bright trim is done in enamel), I overcoat them with acrylic flat finish to give them a museum type finish as well as giving them a protective coat over the painted details. This highly detailed and VERY UNIQUE group would make an interesting looking display in most anyone\'s Civil War display or 54mm toy soldier collection!! And with the 150th Anniversary of this momentous event in our Nation\'s history having just concluded, a neat way to display your remembrance of the Civil War!I\'ve hand painted over 19,900 soldiers for collectors in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and even Japan in the last twelve years! My Civil War background began as a child on my first trip to Gettysburg, over 50 years ago, and I suit up in my complete Union Artillery sergeant\'s uniform to teach the Civil War to my late wife\'s 5th Grade class each year!
