Short bio:
Hinman Barrett HURLBUT,lawyer, was born in St. Lawrence county, N. Y., July 20, 1819, son ofAbiram, a soldier in the revolutionary war, and Mary (Barrett) Hurlbut.He was educated in the common schools, and first emo in a store atWaddington. In 1836 he went to Cleveland, and entered the law office ofhis brother, H. A. Hurlbut. In 1839 he was admitted to the bar, andremoved to Massillon, O., where he began the practice of law. In 1850he retired from the practice of law and engaged in the bankingbusiness. He aided in the organization of the Merchants\' Bank, and theUnion National bank, of Massillon, being director in each corporation.
