Charming and whimsical vintage House of Hatten baby rattle

Made in the Philippines - from 1982

Lots of handcrafted elements on this sweet little plush chick and egg

Chick sits inside an egg which opens and closes - chick is attached to interior base of egg by means of a piece of pastel pink satin ribbon

Cute little chick is wearing a light blue bonnet with pink and white polka-dotted panels and hand embroidered flowers on the brim - facial features and little pink heart on body are hand embroidered - pastel pink satin bow and ribbon around chick\'s neck - fabric on body is pastel yellow with small white polka dots - wings are ivory color - feet are gold color

Exterior of egg is ivory color sewn in four panels - both top and bottom of egg have hand embroidered flowers on front panel - top of egg closes by means of pink applique/embroidered heart with Velcro on the back which meets a piece of Velcro below it on base of egg - interior of egg is same fabric as body of chick -House of Hatten cloth tag is machine embroidered and stitched to back of egg - yellow satin bow at top of egg with loop for hanging

Gentle but rattle-y rattle inside chick

Chick and egg are in good--not perfect--vintage condition - there is discoloration on front panels of top and bottom of egg and spots of discoloration on chick and hat - brim of chick\'s hat is obviously discolored--I did a bit of surface washing and the discoloration diminished which provides hope that it can be cleaned and perhaps restored to its original condition but will leave that to the new owner - pink satin ribbon which attaches chick to base of egg is slightly frayed but intact - heart-shaped Velcro closure no longer \"sticks\" very well--piece of Velcro attached to back of heart as well as piece attached to base of egg are stitched on so they can be replaced fairly easily by someone who has average sewing skills--piece of Velcro on base of egg is loose - top and bottom of egg are sewn together at the back to form a \"hinge\"--some of the stitching on one side of hinge is loose and needs to be re-stitched- there may be additional minor imperfections which have gone unnoticed but everything I saw has been mentioned

Chick itself measures approx. 4-1/4\" tall when measured from top of hat to bottom of feet

Egg when closed measures approx. 5-1/2\" tall

Despite its flaws, this is a very sweet little chick and egg set and a beautiful example of early House of Hatten handcrafted plush toys

Please note: This has been stored in a bag with other plush animals for many years--they have all picked up lint from each other so you may find bits of lint on this too
