This spectacular HENNING Of NORWAY wood carving of the Norse Viking GOD TOR (THOR) is 17\" tall and weighs over 8 pounds! TOR/THOR is the Norse Viking God of lightning, thunder and other natural forces and is the protector of mankind. This rare huge carving is in excellent condition with no issues except for very minor wear, primarily on the rams/he-goats. The color is bright and fresh. The hammer-wielding TOR sits on a throne with two he-goats/rams? at his side. The detail is exceptional...his blond hair appears to be blowing in the wind. His stare is almost unnerving. It is carved out of a single massive piece of wood!!
The base is 7 3/4\" wide by 2 1/8\" tall and 7 1/2\" deep. The overall carving is 17\" tall and 9 1/2\" wide. It is wood burned on the bottom* Henning*/Carved by Hand/in Norway.
The carving will be double boxed.
