Bolosare IN!! Offered here for sale a large, heavy, superbly hand craftedSterling silver and natural Turquoise bolo tie by listed Zuni artists Matildaand Valentino Banteah. This is the second of twofabulous vintage bolos that I have listed by these artists. This one consistsof a massive oval plate of domed Sterling silver richly decorated with hand cutround and teardrop and oval shaped natural turquoise cabochons, fine twistedwire and silver drops. This kind of craftsmanship is very hard to find thesedays and the color of the stones is stunning! Some of the stones have changedcolor with age and the patina is fantastic!Just to note, as you can see in the pictures, there are a few littlehairline cracks in a few stones but all the stones are very secure.
Thebolo is mounted on black braided leather and sports two Sterling cone shaped tips with beautifulrosette turquoise cluster dangles which match the central mandala. The back closure is of the Bennet style andcloses firmly. Both the closure flap and the central piece bear the maker’smark “V.M.B.” This maker’s mark can be seen in Bille Hougart’s “SouthwesternSilver” page 42 and 43 and a listing in Schaaf’s “American Indian Jewelry Vol.II”. All the work that I have seen by these artists has been of fine quality.This bolo was purchased in the 1960’s and is in fantastic condition with someoxidation due to the passage of time. It has fabulous patina but could bepolished if so desired; I will leave the final polish to the new owner! Ifdesired, one could transform the tip rosettes into EARRINGS! WOW! Perfect forthe collector of fine vintage bolos or older Zuni jewelry; a expertly craftedpiece that certainly makes a statement!

Thebolo measures 3 1/4” top to bottom as you see it inthe picture and 2 3/4” wide. Tips are 2” long. The rosette tips measure2” by 1 1/4” Total tip length: 4”.
