This is a stunning Victorian brooch known as a Luckenbooth brooch. This huge brooch is heart shaped with a crown over. It has a large centre faceted Cairngorm citrine/glass stone that is surrounded by other semi-precious/glass stones. As with most of my other Scottish jewellery this was sold to me as citrine and semi precious stones but I am not a qualified gemologist so I prefer to err on the side of caution. The top crown has hand chased decorations and a twisted rope style band and some of the other silver is also hand chased. It has a loop at the back which allows this to be worn as a pendant as well as a brooch. It measures approx. 2 1/2\" x 1 13/16\" (6.5cm x 4.6cm) and weighs, a hefty, 23g. It is in good uncleaned, antique condition with wear to three of the prongs around the stone that does not affect the stability and a couple of indentations to the back. I doubt you will find many of these have survived so add one to your collection now.
