This impressive pewter spire Flagon--12\" in overall height and with a base diameter of 6 3/8\" is probably the work of the Carpenter family of London (Thomas, Elizabeth, and Henry) working ca. 1720-1770--specialists in Flagons of this sort andfrequent exporters to the American colonies--the New England.ones especially. The open chairback thumbpiece, nicely-turned spire, drop below the spout, and complex turnings on the body are details characteristic of the Carpenter\'s fine workmanship. The Flagon\'s especially fine condition testifies to the care it has received over the past 250 years!
