For sale is a \"Convert-a-line ballpoint\" by Esterbrook. It was named as such due to the fact you could convert it into a felt tip pen. We hardly see ANY of these anymore.
This pen has the felt tip refill in it. It is dried up.
Also, there is a dent in the barrel. See picture #2.
Other than that, it is in great condition with noother notable flaws. It is a slender pen slightly over 5\" when capped.
The cap has a slant top and the bottom of the barrel is flat. The maker\'s mark is around the bottom of the cap, \"Esterbrook Made in USA\"

General Info on Esterbrook pens
Esterbrook fountainpens absolutely defy time in their pretty design .The plastics used along with the pretty mottled designdiminish typical scratches etc that would normally mar a different pen noticeably. This holds true for the entire colored pen. The black ones, by nature, show normal scratches a little easier but we\'ve worked hard on them too.
They made Nibs from 1856 on and made fountain pens from 1938+- through the 1970\"s.
Their philosophy was wonderful-most people could not afford the Parker or Waterman or Eversharp pens of the day; folks also wanted to use different types of nibs for different writing occasions but all the more expensive pens only had 1 nib and it was not interchangeable except at the factory, if then.
So Esterbrook met the market by:
1.building durable and beautiful pens at much less than 1/2 the price of others; often 1/8 of the price.
2.Making 33 nibs interchangeable for the customer, on site, by simple screwing one out of the barrel and another one in-How smart!Changing nibs is effortless and requires no experience. And it was all affordable-
A person could own one Esterbrook pen and, for a very reasonable cost (usually less than a dollar), have lots of cool nibs. And so can we today, long after the company closed its doors.
For an object 60-70 years of age,the pen setis in really good condition having no issues other than those from light wear.
Amazingly, the nibsare interchangeable with 33 other nibs of different types (some are Fine, Medium or Bold, stub, italic, shaded etc) that screw right in to the end of the barrel.
