This beautiful pair of Hazorfim \"Ben-Yehuda\" Judaica Candlesticks were handcrafted in Israel from pure sterling silver.Crafted by skilled and dedicated silversmiths, they symbolize the intent and investment in the Shabbat, giving great honor and added elegance to the mitzvot of kindling the Shabbat lights.
Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, responsible for the revival of the Hebrew language, is the influence behind these candlesticks.They are famed as part of the first collection designed for Hazorfim by the late Josef Merdinger, which draws on the characteristics of the Baroque style which was popular amongst Austro-Hungarian Jews in the 18th and early 19th century\'s.
JosefMerdinger escaped Europe before the war, carrying only a suitcase containing his silversmith’s tools and his vision for what would become the Hazorfim Company. His intention was to revive the tradition of Jewish jewelry making and the traditional skills of handcrafted silver art in the Land of Israel. The elegant pieces which make up the Ben-Yehuda Collection are his interpretation of classic imperial designs made famous by Jewish silversmiths in northern Europe.
The candlesticks are in wonderful condition. They stand 6 3/8 inches tall with a wide attractive base that is 2 1/8 inch from foot to foot. They are each marked \"Hazorfim 925\" on one of the feet. The candlesticks are very clean and polish up to a nice shine with only a wipe with a silver cloth. I will be polished them again before shipping.The candlesticks will arrive ready to display and ready for use.
