Original Charles Eames designed fiberglass shell chair. Produced by Herman Miller, this chair has the original label on it which indicates the first production line. A very unique and rare piece of mid century design. This seat represents the first generation of seats made by Zenith Plastics. Zenith Plastics was the first company that the Eames used to make their iconic fiberglass chairs. Three generations of chairs were made at Zenith Plastics before production transferred to Herman Miller in the 1950\'s. The Zenith shells always have the larger style shockmount, they also have a more translucent resin, and lots of pretty white fibers. The Zenith seats do not have an embossment because the manufacturing information was handled with a paper label, which is still attached and is an example of the earliest version of the Eames fiberglass rope-edge chair. The earliest version is signified by its Zenith production and butt welded x-base frame.
