This is a beautiful quilt that has history and comes with a note.

c 1890s

The pattern is called Mexican Rose and it was made by Nancy Foul given to Isabella Meyer on her 14th birthday in 1891.

The family history note reads as follows:

\"Nancy was a cousion of Eliku Moyer, Isabella\'s father. She was married to Ed Foul. They lived in Elroy for a while. Later they moved into part of Eliku\'s farmhouse where they lived when the quilt was finished.

I don\'t remember seeing the quilt on a bed, only when it was hung outside on the clothes line at house cleaning time.

When Mama (Isabella) went to the Sonderton Mennonite Home in or about 1984 their (Mama\'s and Daddy\'s) apartment at Dock Monor had to be emptied. No one else wanted the quilt. I was thrilled! I had always admired it, now it was mine. It is in the chest again instead of on my bed. Ethel Meyers Kolb (Daughter)\"

It is on rare occasion that so much history is saved with a quilt and a treasure to have.

Measures 73 x 72 inches

Hand quilted 5 stitches per inch.

This quilt has vibrant color with reds, green, double pink and chrome yellow. On back a fabulous floral print with birds.

Framed with 3 borders and corner post flowers.

Applique is hand sewn. Batting is thin.

Crisp, never used or washed. Has some age spotting in places. No wear.

Found in Pennsylvania from estate.
