Unique \'Cascade\' Table Lamp
Per Lütken, c.1973
Kastrup-Holmegaard, Denmark
Description

A vintage and unique \'Cascade\' series table lamp, designed by Per Lütken for Kastrup-Holmegaard, Denmark, around 1973.The lamp features in none of the Holmegaard retail catalogues of the time, and, unusually, was created using the mould for a decanter in the 1973 \'Butler\' drinkware series, also created by Lütken. We sold a similar \'Cascade\' lamp base, many years ago, made with the decanter mould from Lütken\'s \'No. 5\' series. They are possibly from a special order, or are prototypes. As with all \'Cascade\' pieces, the lamp is made of opal-white glass, decorated with random chips of colourfulglass fused on the surface in streaks and spots, and encased in clear glass. It has been refitted with an Italian-made Bakelite E27 lampholder, with in-built switch, which is suitable for most modern British and traditional European shades. It has been rewired with premium vintage-style Italian-made braided fabric cable in a complementary blue colour.

Messrs. Nicholas Wilson and Ashley Coleman, the constituent parts of Wilson & Coleman, are dedicated - addicted - to finding wonderful vintage and contemporary interior design objects and works of decorative art from around the world. We shun the ease of buying from dull and predictable wholesalers and \"antiques warehouses\", and everything we acquire has been individually sourced, often in very limited runs. This means that although we present mostly 20th and 21st Century European objects of vertu we never know exactly what we\'ll next discover on our travels. We do know, however, that it will never be boring.Selecting items individually also means that there will always be a consistent level of taste, quality and coherence that runs throughout our collections. We would never present anything that we would not absolutely love to own ourselves.
