This is done with a sewing machine and some hand stitching. It is homemade, though.
The quilt has scalloped edges done okay, there\'s two corners where the triangle ended up being a square and the quilt makers couldn\'t quite work out how to settle the issue, so it\'s a square at those two corners. It doesn\'t matter that much because the shams cover up the issue. The backing on the pillow shams are off white and the quilt backing is white. Either they ran out of white or off white or they didn\'t. notice. There is one spot where the stitching has come out please see photo number 8. I\'m no use in repairing such things so I thought it best be left in the hands of the new owner.
The quilt is 82\" x 79\" roughly. The shams are 28\" x 21\" with the insert for the pillows being 25\" x 18 1/2\"Provenance: This set was purchased in the 1980s for my bedroom in Lawrence Kansas, where I grew up. My parents were keen on buying local items by artists or local items handmade for charities. However they also would frequent Colorado and it might have been purchased there. I used this on my bed from my early teens until my after I graduated from KU. So I\'ve been hauling this and storing this for the last 20 years. I\'ve only one full size bed in the house, but my a main bed was full size bed from the age of 2-34. So I have years of bedding and I just don\'t need that much for one room or one bed. We\'re also moving, so I have been required to reduce stuff. I\'ve loads of quilts made by close relatives, so the \"unknowns\" must go.
It\'s a charming quilt. The photos really don\'t do it justice. I hope the set ends up with some one that really loves it.
