Hopi 13\" KOROSTO Harvest Kachina Doll - R Pentewa (1927-2002) Vintage c1968

This is a wonderful vintage 1968 hand carved Korosto (Harvest) kachina doll by Hopi carver Richard Pentewa (1927-2002). Most of Richard\'s kachinas were carved in the 1960s and 1970s era. He lived in the Hopi village of Oraibi AZ until his death.

This fabulous high quality hand carved kachina doll was created out of one piece of cottonwood and hand painted with handmade dyes from natural vegetation. It features hooked eyes, paddle ears, a medicine bag and rattle. His case mask is decorated with tadpoles, the symbol of fertility, bounty and renewal. Simply amazing hand painted details! It stands at about 13\" tall, including base, and about 8\" wide. Signed and dated on the bottom by the Hopi carver Richard Pentewa. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
