Presented tonight is thisexquisite vintage Hopi Kachina doll, depicting Payik\' Ala, the 3 Horn Kachina.He is seen in groups during the Mixed Kachina dances. He is said to be a recentimport from Zuni, probably just before the Great Split at Oraibi, in 1906. Thisfantastic doll stands 16 and a half inches tall, and is carved by the lateAaron Poseyesva, a prolific carver, who style was always based on thetraditional tihus given to young girls during ceremonial dances. Aaron, whopassed away in 2006, was an active carver for over 50 years, and his work wasshown in literally dozens of galleries throughout the west and southwest. Thisexcellent example displays beautifully and would be a great addition to anyKachina doll collection. This piece dates from the late 1970\'s, but is in superb condition.
