You are offerding on an 1800s wine Carretto (Wine Peddlers Cart) that was brought to the United States in 1945 by the famed Aviator Ralph Waldo Emerson Cox and has been on display in his museum at the Cape May County Airport. The Horse drawn wagon dates to the Roman Campagna. This is the actual wagon pictured in an early 1900 postcard, I have included a photo of the post card. It is all original condition. It includes the eight hand painted large wine barrels, each with its own winery mark and what city the winery was located(Tripoli, Rome, Lucy, Roma, Vino non Buono) And one small barrel which the driver sat on. All original rope, broom, whip and even the dogs chain still remain with this beautiful piece of history. The original oil lantern still hangs below the wagon and has one broken glass pane still in place. There is one large barrel that hangs under the rear of the wagon with a painting of what I believe is Bacchus the Roman God of Wine. There are two poles that slide in the rear under the wagon, when pulled out they become the loading ramp for the wine barrels. There is also a 5 branch limb that I wasn\'t sure of its purpose. With some research I found a wine Carretto in an antique oil painting which had the 5 branch limb  being used to hang the wine buckets upside down to dry. So this branch is original to this wagon. The canopy frame is made from tree branches, covered in canvas and hand painted with flowers and a portrait of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus. Inside the canopy is red velvet with gold thread stars. As you can see in the photos the canvas has torn and is in need of repair both inside and out. There are several religious paintings around the outside of the wagon along with flowers. The harness is included. However the leather is dry rotted. All of the beautiful bronze embellishment still remain in tact  and can be used for restoration. The horses blinders have beautiful bronze lions heads on them. The original feather plooms are still in place but missing the feathers due to age. Again every thing is in tact for an authentic restoration. This is the only Roman wine Carretto known in the U.S. And possibly the only one remaining in the world. I have searched the Internet and have not been able to find another one of this age or magnitude other than in antique oil paintings. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own this rare museum piece. This would be an excellent focal piece for a winery.

I am able to move this wagon around with just one finger, rolls easily.
