Rare Huge Traditional Antique YemenBedouin Woman Tribal WeddingKirdan Labbeh Necklace from the middle east, low silver/metal alloy, dating to the early 20th century.

This is a 100% Yemeni Handmade piece of art, using primitive tools that have been utilized for 100s of years.
This mesh labbeh or Kirdan is worn wrapped around the neck or attached to the sides of the headgear hanging down as a frame to women’s chin.
Worn by Muslim and Jewish women alike, it is designed with elaborate and extensive filigree and several dangling beads. This type of necklace would have been part of a woman’s dowry given to the bride by her father.
A similar necklace can be seen in Heather Colyer Ross’ s book “The Art of Bedouin Jewellery” who suggests that the silversmiths who originally designed this necklace may have been influenced by the chain maille of the Crusaders armor.
