This fixture is unusual in at least that the maker signed their work HERWIG on the inside. But if you know their work you likely notice their hallmarks: button line detail along top and bottom edges, 45 degree divisions (not just straight) and style of body construction. We got his large fixture with possibly 20 coats of paint, and had to completely start over with bare cast iron. Next we plated it in real copper, and then did a traditional Verdigris “green” patina. Slag glass panels are replacements, as half the originals had cracks and were covered in multiple coats of paint. This light has quite a bit of extra chain we can remove to shorten. While this has a lacquer topcoat allowing it to go indoors or out, if placed outdoors the cast iron base metal will likely begin to rust again, adding to the wonderful colors of the finish.
