It will be directly shipped to you from Rural Route 1 in Grayling, Michigan. Fred Bear has been gone from Grayling for almost 35 years yet he still impacts our little town of Grayling. People still come here to see the Fred Bear Museum and are surprised to find out it is gone, or to see what’s left of Bear Archery. As a Bear Archery Collecter I am proud to be able to offer this book to you and to do my part in keeping Fred Bear’s legacy carrying onward… If you have any questions you can call me at 1-800 848-1268. Thanks, Pete“A shiver ran through me. I am a rifle hunter and have tangled with enough dangerous game … to know firsthand how blindingly fast a situation can get hairy. But this calm character of a Bear, hugging his thin knees by the fire, was planning to trot up to a big bull elephant and let fly an arrow at snowball-throwing range.” —Peter Barrett, True MagazineBefore the compound bow, and without the benefit of any sort of reference guide, Fred Bear set out on a course to conquer the world’s most fierce big game. Toting what would, by today’s standards, be considered primitive bowhunting gear, Bear added challenge by taking along camera crews and writers to document these odysseys. And during the 1950s, 60s and 70s Bear became our greatest hunting legend ever. The accounts of those historic adventures were captured in hair-raising detail and published in the leading magazines of the day … Life, True, Outdoor Life, Archery and others. Bear’s stories were also re-lived to national television audiences on “The American Sportsman” and “The Tonight Show.” But the days of hunting adventure being shared by the mainstream media to the general public are gone … and most of Bear’s stories have been lost or largely forgotten … until now.For the first time, all of “Papa Bear’s” greatest hunts have been collected and brought to life in one amazing volume by accomplished author Dick Lattimer—Fred’s right-hand man, friend and confidant for more than two decades. These are the famed Fred Bear adventures published during the heydey of hunting’s greatest entrepreneur and ambassador of all time.A sampling of the 25 chapters includes: “Arrow For A Grizzly,” “You Go, I Stay (brown bear),” “Most Dangerous Bear?—I Say Polar,” “Tiger With an Arrow,” and “Africa’s Meanest Game.” The 6×9-inch, hardcover book is 300-plus pages and includes approximately 100 photos—some of which have never before been published.
As a Fred Bear and Bear Archery collector myself, I am lucky to live here in Grayling, Michigan. I can say I was thrilled to first learn of this book, and having collected most any type of memorobilia that there is I am proud to do my part in promoting this piece of archery history. People come through Grayling to this day still looking for the Fred Bear Museum, but just never knew that it had moved on to Gainesville, and now on to Bass Pro’s Sringfield, MO store. The old Grayling Museum building was demolished years ago, and parts of the old factory are still standing, so I put together one of the largest Bear Archery collections to show to people when they come to the Grayling area. If you do make it here feel free to give me a call and I would be happy to give you the tour. ~If you have any questions or would like to inquire about dealer pricing please call 1-800-848-1268 Pete Kocefas
