Hutschenreuther Demitasse Set
Beautiful and rare demitasse set made by Hutschenreuther, Selb, Germany - established 1814. This vintage set is likely from the 1940\'s or early 1950\'s. The slip from the original purchase is dated 1952.
Set includes:
Coffee pot with top - 7 1/4 inches tall and 8 inches from spout to handle
Sugar with top - 4 1/2 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches handle to handle
Creamer - 3 3/4 inches tall
Saucers (9) - 4 3/8 inch diameter
Cups (8)- 1 6/8 inches tall with 2 3/4 inches diameter - 1 cup has a tiny chip on the rim - noticed it as I was hand-washing the set for display.There are small painted flowers on all of the pieces. The cups have the flowers in the bottom of the cup and most are different, as are the flowers on the saucers. Ivory background with light green and gold decorations.
This set was originally purchased in Wiesbaden, Germany on May 19, 1952. As an added bonus, the original sales slips are included. There are 2 sales slips. The first is for the initial purchase of the demitasse set for 6 that included the coffee pot, creamer, sugar and 6 cups and saucers. Receipt is dated 19.5.52. There is a second receipt dated 9.5.61 for the purchase of an additional 3 cups and saucers. One of the cups apparently has been lost or broken as there are 8 cups and 9 saucers with this set. The envelope that the sales slips came in reads \"Hutschenreuther original bills of sale, May 19, 1952 Wiesbaden, Germany\" along with another notation that this is an extremely rare set. The set has no name that I can find. It does, however, have a number - 02355 and is described on the sales slip as \"Madeleine-Ivory/02355 with light green colour\".21 of the 22 pieces of this set are in perfect condition - no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs (visible to my critical eyes).
