This Shirley is in the one-of-a-kind, royal blue, cotton, Bluebird Dress that many experts suspect, was a salesman copy. She has her numbered tag (hand-written inside of her dress). If you don’t have room for numerous Shirley Temple dolls in your collection in all of the various costumes, this one is for you! Personally, I would like to see her go to the future Hollywood Movie Museum for the world to see.
She is shown in all of the Edward Pardella Shirley Temple books, as well as the more recent ST reference books.
I had a super mint Judy Garland doll in the red, plaid dress once, but I had to sell her. At any rate, the elderly dealer who sold her to me, said that one day the Judy Garland doll in red plaid would be worth $50,000.00. So that’s what I considered, when I priced this doll, as she’s ONE-OF-A-KIND in very excellent condition with her original salesman box. The name on her box lid reads, “Stern Brothers, New York”. Her price is not based upon any current, doll reference book author’s opinion. The expert opinion is solely mine.

Beautiful, even composition with AWESOME cheek, knee, and palm coloring!!
Shirley’s dress retains, it’s bright, royal blue color! It’s crisp and has the original sizing! Her net bodice is accented with a blue, felt blue bird! Her bodice is lined with organdy material. There is scalloped, Belgium Val Lace along her round neckline! She has short, net, puffy sleeves. The dress is finished with a nice flounce along the hemline! Her back closure is trimmed in organdy and there’s three, white, thin, buttons.
Her matching, crisp panties are made of matching, royal blue material. They have a beautiful flounce as well along the bottoms!Original, leatherette, ecru-colored, cutout, ST shoes in excellent condition! Original tight, ecru-colored, nylon socks!Deep, original, cheek coloring and dark, dramatic eye shadow!
Full upper, sable-colored, human-hair lashes! Vivid, lower painted lashes. Vibrant, heavy painted, feathered eyebrows. Eye open-shut mechanism works very nicely. Dark hazel eyes have started to crystallize. Over-all very nice composition with beautiful coloring/finish (no broken fingers). Faint, sparse, spider crazing here and there, with a short deeper one underneath her earlobe (barely detectable). Adorable dimples and cupped fingers (like she wants to hold your hand)! 20 inches/ 50.8CM in height, five-piece composition body. The nape of her head is stamped clearly in raised letters, \"Shirley Temple, Ideal\". Her back is also stamped in raised letters, \"Shirley Temple”, with the number 20.Her original box is sturdy. On top of the box it reads, “Stern Brothers”. The box lid is sturdy too, but on the short side of the lid, the side fell off. I laid it on top of the box when I took a photo, it’s hand-written, “20 ST Blue Bird”.Pls. forgive flash glares showing as white spots on photos.I’m only answering questions to “potential buyers” on this particular sale as my time is extremely limited.
