Description:
Large, impressive, antique Persian Islamic dagger, Khanjar - circa 1850.
The I-shaped handle, sheath and blade are finely inlayed with silver wire in elaborate floral and geometric designs - very fine and attractive work quality.
The curved blade is massive, extremely sharp on both edges and forged with a prominent central ridge.
Condition is very good for the age - all original except the green velvet, on the sheath, that was replaced - some ware of the silver inlay on the sheath - please view detailed pictures.
It measures, overall 49 cm long (19 5/8\") - the blade alone is 31.5 (12 3/8\") long.
