Up for sale with is a Very Rare and quite Impressive Georgian Period English Sterling Silver Meat Platter Tray. The Platter is one of the largest Georgian Period examples I have sold in a very long time. The Platter features a very nice Georgian Rope style border with a finely Hand done Family Armorial Crest that is well worth looking into as not just everyone has Sterling like this ! The Platter is fully Hallmarked as seen for 1799 London Sterling Silver. The Maker\'s mark is a little worn but I believe it is WB for William Burwash. The Platter is in superb condition with only minor signs of use and age to the front as seen. The Platter is quite large and makes an impressive display but is also quite sturdy for modern use, measuring19-1/2 inches long by14-1/2 inches wide or the actual serving area measures15 inches long by10 inches wide. The Platter is quite thick Solid Sterling Silver and weighs2186 grams. A friend of mine was in England this past summer and remarked how little Georgian Period Silver he saw at the shows and shoppes and what sky high prices the few pieces he saw at the sales were going for. I doubt you will find another Meat Platter this large up for sale again without reserve !
