This is an interesting majolica cobalt cheese keeper with the bird on the branch & water lily and other decoration ofwhich:

During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the victorian period of the mid 19th century.

Dates c1860s.

Of an english origin.

Features in the Warman\'s Majolica book by Mark F. Moran, known as the bible of Majolica.

Decoration of the bird on the branch with flowers, bows and other.

To the top: a centrally water lily flower on a pond.

Circular base tray with the wonderful colouring to the top and underneath.

Base tray, circular in shape with the embossed decoration around the circumference.

It has an overall height of about 7.25inches.

It has an overall max dia of about 7inches.

Base tray dia of about 8inches.

Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition of the cover is subject to overall early restoration of which:

with todays modern and advanced restoration techniques, can certainly be improved.

The base tray is excellent and is not subject to any major blemishes.
