ARare Antique 19th Century Indian Gold metal work on Silk Shawl Mughal (?)

On offer is a very rare antique Indian silk shawl with gold and silver metal applique work. This fine textile art is very likely a mughal or could possibly be some sort of tribal head scarf. It dates to late 19th century. The silk ground is very delicately woven and the applique work is very fine. The design consists of a central medallion with four paisleys on each of the four corners. The space in between is filled with elegantly drawn tiny paisleys, spaced and arranged beautifully. The border continue the paisley theme.

This piece shows that antique Indian textiles at best have an elegance that can seldom be bettered. The piece is in good overall shape considering its age. It has some age wear as seen on the photo, but nothing distracting.
