and often rare sterling silver tastevins. We have collected only the finest during

the past 40 years.

From our personal collection and forthe aficionado of fine wine;we are pleased to offer

for salean 18th Century, museum quality, French sterling silver tastevin with an attractive

snake handle typically associated with the Burgundy wineregion of France.

Acomparable wine taster, from the same period, with the identicalassay marks and the

identical maker\'s mark is locatedin the Frenchsilver collection at the

Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The tastevin bears the \"Coq\", Paris premier titre,assay mark denoting .950 sterling silver content.

It also bears the excise mark,the\"Head of old man\" flanked by numerals 8 and 5. This excise mark

is for medium size silver items.

The tastevin also has the\"Head of Apollo\" mark (different from the \"Head of old man\")that was

utilized by the \"Association des Orfevres\" during 3 years only...1795-1797. In addition, the tastevin

has the maker\'s mark believed to be Paris silversmith Louis JosephThomas, 1795-1798.

The diameter of the cup is 3.1/4\". The weight of the wine taster is 82 grams. The condition is excellent.

This rare tastevin has outstanding credentials. It will grace the finest of collections. It\'s an outstanding
