STUNNING ENGRAVING - 4 troy oz. - Hilliard & Thomason

This is a superb ANTIQUE VICTORIAN solid sterling silver CHRISTENING TANKARD or MUG that was made in Birmingham, England in 1879 by the famous Victorian silversmiths, Hilliard & Thomason at their Spencer Street workshops. It has a superb traditional tapering shape and has a lovelyloop handle. It has stunning engraved decoration to the sides. It measures2 5/8\" in diameter across the rim, almost 3 5/8\" from handle to lip and stands 3 5/8\" high. It is VERY substantial - it weighs111.0 grams -well over 3 1/2troy oz. It is engraved with DAS from DL to the cartouche on the side.

It is hallmarked to theside with H&T, Victoria duty mark, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),anchor, e showing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1879. It is in very good condition with a littleless than the usual surface scratching,NO repairs, splits or dents with little distortion and few dings- really STUNNING - it is a remarkable piece of quality silver work.
