This is a museum quality vintage Hopi silver necklace being an extremely rare piece of historical significance. This necklace was handmade by none other than Otellie Laloma, wife of the famous Charles Laloma! Otellie made very few silver pieces and her work is highly collectable and extremely rare. The phenomenal necklace contains two half round silver shanks that wonderfully and comfortably form around the neck. Otellie resided in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Charles for many years. She taught at the institue of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. Otellie\'s influence is widely known in the art of her students that include P. Jones, Manuel Lovato and Tony Abeyta. She expressed her philosphy of teaching \"When the belief is alive the work is alive, this belief and aliveness gives the student their strength in what they do in any art form or life work. This belief and aliveness is what makes me the artist I am, it is what I\'m all about.\" This impressive necklace measures from top to bottom around 6-1/4\". Sterling silver, marked. Cir. 1980\'s+.
