Up for sale with is an absolutely exceptional 18th Century Georgian Period English Sterling Silver Soup or Chili Tureen Bowl. The Tureen is the finest example I have sold in recent memory. The Tureen shows amazing signs of being completely Hand Made with fine hammer marks inside. The Tureen also features an incredibly finely detailed cast Pineapple figural handle to the lid and elegant sweeping reeded Handles to the sides of the Bowl. I also love the finely done designs to the Bowl itself, much finer than my photos can convey. The Tureen is fully Hallmarked for the very fine Period Silversmiths John Wakelin & William Taylor, London England, Sterling Silver and the Date Letter for 1781. The Tureen is in amazing all original condition with no damage or repairs and has never been monogrammed which is a great find. The Tureen is very large and most impressive measuring15-1/4 inches long by8 inches wide and standing11-1/2 inches tall overall. The Tureen is also very practical for modern use holding approx14 cups, which would feed 10-12 people as a main dish or 20+ people as an entrée. The Tureen is very thick Solid Sterling Silver with an impressive weight of2160 grams.
