Incredibly Rare Fired Ejection Seat and Piece of the Crashed Jet:
$39500.00

Up for sale is a major piece of aviation history! Back in 1981 a prototype of a fighter jet trainer, famously known as the Peregrine 600, was built to compete as Gulfstream\'s submission in a contract battle. The jet was very well liked and even made an appearance at the famed Paris Airshow. Then on one fateful day in 1983, the Peregrine took off for the last time. The test pilot at the time, Bill Lawton, was to test out new ailerons on the Peregrine over Oklahoma. After gaining sufficient altitude, he performed an aileron roll. However, when he corrected to pull out of the maneuver, the plane started rolling uncontrollably in the opposite direction. After fighting the out of control jet, it became clear that a crash was inevitable. While inverted, Bill yanked the ejection handle and the seat up for sale rocketed out of the plane with the rocket assist supplying 4,000lbs of thrust. The seat performed exactly as planned and saved Bills life! The whole story is backed up by the records made by the NTSB on the crash.

Fast forward more than 30 years and the seat was discovered sitting abandoned in a building near where the ruins of the crashed jet are stored. Except for some dust and a cracked main frame due to the crash, the seat was exactly like it was when it flew with the Peregrine. Since it had been inside for all of those years, all of the original decals were even pristine. With a painstaking restoration lasting one year, the seat was stripped of all of its parts, and the crack was precisely welded. After being put back together, a sturdy steel frame was crafted that mounts the seat on a steel tube exactly as it was mounted in the jet. Unfortunately, the seat is missing a few things.  The seat cushion and survival kit along with the parachute that was stored underneath all were lost during the ejection for obvious reasons. However, finding these pieces from another seat will not be hard. Also included, is a large piece of skin from the airplane with the peregrine logo on it. This was recovered from the wreck of the Peregrine. Just sitting in the life saving rocket seat yields an incredible feeling, knowing what all it has been through. The pictures in this listing are pictures of the jet, the ejection seat itself, the piece of aluminum, and a picture of the former Gulfstream owner Allen Paulson sitting in the very seat.

There are many more amazing stories and much more information available about the seat. For more information, please inquire through . It will be very hard to let go of, but I really need to sell it fast. Free shipping to the continental US.
