We are especially please to offer this monumental c1890 Indian silver presentation tea set.

Signed for the Bombay firm of Vummidiar.

The hunt scenes and elephant handles are characteristic of the finest Bombay silver. Wilkinson illustrates a near identical set pg. 26.

Classic oval form atop well cast bun feet.

Adorned with series of beautifully hand carved jungle and hunt scenes. Some of the scenes quite unique.

A hunter with raised dagger as tiger attacks. Elephants moving logs in thick palm grove, another with an elephant lifting man high above the ground. Hunter with spear killing lion. Set against rich satin background.

The teapot with boldly cast Vishnu seated atop elephant finial, atop jungle hunt scenes.

Even more striking are the life like elephant head and trunk handles and spout.

Presentation to W.O. Henderson Esq. from Indian staff.

This elephant teapot is 12 inches handle to spout 44 1/2 standard ounces.

The sugar bowl is 9 inches 20 1/2 ounces.

Cream jug is 7 1/2 inches and it is 16 1/2 ounces.

The entire service hand crafted in exceptionally thick heavy guage solid silver 81 standard ounces.

Excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands firm on table or display shelf. The brilliantly carved hunt and village scenes and elephant spout and handles retain their original crisp detail.
