PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Listed for your consideration is a wonderful, vintage or antique wood carving from Indonesia. It depicts a bird I can\'t identify. The bird has a long beak, a tuft at the back of its\' head, and a long, draping tail.

The item has several markings on the bottom, not all of which I\'ve been able to decipher. It is stamped INDONESIA. It also has a hallmark-- an M-shaped circle within another circle, with the initials PK in the center. A ribboned banner beneath that reads what I think says DAFRAM BALI . Perhaps that is the carver\'s hallmark, or a company name, I am not sure. Handwritten in some form of a black marker is P34 and there is a remnant of a paper sticker, most of which has worn away.

The carved figure stands approximately 8-1/2 inches (21,7 cm) tall and 4 inches (10,5 cm) deep. It is in good, clean condition, but the wood has splits and staining to the base and two smaller splits across the sides of the bird\'s face. Otherwise no damage, no chips or breakage, no repairs.

No odors. Clean, non- smoking Environment.

If you happen to know more about these markings or the type of wood used, I would welcome the information.

This item was purchased by a family member at an estate sale back in the 1960s and has been in our family ever since, carefully wrapped and stored away in newspapers that dated back to that era, so we know it is at least that old.
