Location: Iqaluit, Nunavut, CanadaAnnie\'s pencil sketches told a tale: depicting animals, Inuit people in a playful interaction with their harsh Arctic Environment. Presenting portraits and events in unique and funny ways, her drawings and sketches were seen in key establishments around Iqaluit (Royal Bank, Royal Canadian Legion, etc.) and she was one of the most recognized Inuit artist in Iqaluit, Nunavut.I\'ve personally met Ann and purchased some of her art works when I was working in Iqaluit, Nunavut between 1996-1998. Originally from Pond Inlet, Nunavut, she had the distinction of being the first Inuit Broadcaster for CBC. Daughter of Joe Panipakoocho, the RCMP Inuit guide aboard the St.Roch during its historic 1940-42 voyage of the Northwest Passage, Annie told about being on board the vessel during part of that expedition. She would have been around four years old at the time. Sadly, she succumbed in 2000 after having a serious COPD from years of cigarette smoking in sealed-up winter cabin quarters.Sheet size: 12\" x 17\"
