IRISH STERLING ARMADA EWER NEPTUNE MASK 1879

We are pleased to offer this museum worthy Victorian sterling silver Armada ewer.

One of the most sought after of all Victorian designs.

Boldly fashioned mermaid and merman figures. Leopard head, masks and endless shell and floral displays.

Only crafted for 25 years or so.

Irish examples are almost never found.

Classic slender tapering neck bottle form.

Medallion, with later 25th anniversary presentation. Opposite side with second engraving. Flanked by brilliant full body mermaid and merman, tiny wings and hands raised high.

Fiendishly detailed mask of the God of the Seas Neptune. Wicker basket over-flowing with floral above.

Mermaid and men interrupted by centre raised leopard with flowing, satin like mane.

The nwith cascading bell flower, rolling wave and leaf.

Unique pistol grip mechanism set within the handle. The design only found on Armada ewers.

Interior gilt neck and under cover.

The Armada ewer is 14 1/2 inches weighs 36 1/2 (standard) ounces.

Hallmarked as shown.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The raised mermaid and merman, leopard and mask, and lush floral sprays retain their original hand chased detail. The pistol grip handle works fine. Stands firm on table or museum display shelf.
