Please read description carefully, examine all pics closely as they are part of the description, and ask any questions before buying!Up for sale is an original Twenty-Four Books of the Holy Scriptures. By Isaac Leeser, published by Hebrew Publishing Company, New York, undated. In two volumes, it contains 24 books of the Hebrew Scriptures, or Old Testament, in both Hebrew and English. Interestingly, it starts at the \"back\" of the book and reads right to left instead of left to right. For the Bible Collector: please reference Hills No 2211, which states, in part: \"Leeser version; see 1845-46, No 1273. One line of Hebrew appears at head of title. Hebrew and English texts on facing pages, double numbered. Hebrew text begins on verso of title page. There are separate title pages for the Second Part, Division 1 (Judges, Joshua, 1 and 2 Samuel, and 1 and 2 Kings); Second Part, Division 2 (the later prophets); and Third Part (Hagiographa). Th publisher reports that this work first appeared in 1912 in this form. It was reprinted several times.\"Condition and details: This original two volume set with accompanying slipcase box is in very good condition (the slipcase is only in fair condition), there\'s some very light wear and tear. Bindings are well attached, hinges aren\'t cracking. No writing, loose pages, dog ears, bad smells, water damage, tears, etc. that I could see. I would ask you to see the pics to get a good idea of it\'s condition, and I would be happy to answer any and all questions, or provide more pictures if needed. I am not a book grader, so see the pics, and you be the judge! This would be an awesome authentic addition to your collection, or a great gift for that collector in your life, and would look great sitting in your library! These each measure about 7\" x 4-3/4\".For the Watch Tower collector: First of all, what does the \"Watchtower Related\" mean? Many sellers here on use this term. To me, it refers to any works at any time that the WTB&TS may have referenced, possibly made available or advertised many years ago in similar forms, that JW\'s or original Bible students may have written or published, and things of that nature. Not necessarily produced or even made available by the Society, but may in some meaningful way relate to Watchtower history and heritage. There are hundreds of such items, if not more. Truly it is up to each person to decide for themselves if any addition to their personal library brings benefit to them. This particular Bible set has no markings of, nor was it published by, the WTB&TS. So how is it \"Watchtower related\"? Leeser\'s version was advertised in the Watch Tower magazine, for example: Dec. 1884: \"The Hebrews have prepared recently an English translation of the Old Testament Scriptures which we commend to those desirous of a critical translation for comparison in studying. We have procured a small lot and can furnish them at $1.65 postpaid, which is less than the usual price.\" Or this ad from an 1898 Divine Plan of the Ages: \"Leeser\'s Translation of the Old testament will also prove useful. It is a critical translation of the Old Testament by a Hebrew - the standard among Hebrews who read English. Price $1.35, including postage.\" This Bible is referenced to many times in the Watchtower Library, for example, see the Proclaimers book, page 604, where it\'s pictured as well as mentioned on page 605. Abbreviated as Le in WT references. Interestingly, the Tetragrammaton is right there in the Hebrew text. This Bible is somewhat difficult to come by, and would make a fine addition to your collection!A little about the translator, Isaac Leeser (from wikipedia): Isaac Leeser (December 12, 1806 – February 1, 1868) was an American, Ashkenazi Jewish lay minister of religion, author, translator, editor, and publisher; pioneer of the Jewish pulpit in the United States, and founder of the Jewish press of America. He produced the first Jewish translation of the Bible into English,[1] as well as editions of the liturgy. He is considered one of the most important American Jewish personalities of the nineteenth century America.

In 1848, Leeser published a masoretic Hebrew edition of the Tanakh, Biblia Hebraica, in cooperation with Joseph Jaquett, a local Episcopalian minister. It was the first of its kind to be printed in America.

In 1853, Leeser completed his English translation of the entire Tanakh, commonly called The Leeser Bible. In 1857 he issued a second (folio-size) edition of this Bible. A compact size edition (containing a \"Notes\" section in the back of the book) was printed two years after the quarto edition (which contained footnotes of more extensive notes), as stated in the second to the last paragraph of the Preface of the compact size edition.
