Hand Hammered Beautiful Large 59 cm Islamic / Judaica Mamluk Revival Brass Tray with The Story Of the Prophet Joseph /YusufWith Arabic Calligraphy. A Must for Collectors of Persian & Islamic Art. Late 1800\'s Damascus
This beautiful tray has the story of the prophet Joseph and his trials and tribulations. From his brothers throwing him into the well to Zuleika\'s attempted seduction as well as his dream about the stars and finally the central cartouche showing his reunification with his family and his father. The tray has decent quality images and the engravings are still strong. The biblical story trays were made usually in Damascus for the European tourists of the late 19th Century. Sometimes the other commonly seen trays are the ones with Soloman or Moses.
