Description: For sale is an original pair of landscapewatercolour paintings by the original listed Britishartist John Porter Wale (1860-1920). The first painting ison paper and depicts a mill building across a river ford.This painting is signed lower left \'J. P. Wale\', it isframed and mounted behind glass in a modern gilt woodframe. The second painting depicts a rural gardenlandscape on watercolour board, it is signed lower right\'J. P\' Wale\'. The signature on this painting has beenadded posthumously after the artists death by a relativewith the details inscribed verso \'This Picture Was SignedAfter The Artists Death By Theo J. P. Wale\'. The paintingis framed behind glass in the original antique wood andgesso frame. There is a condition report below. The images are best viewed in the fullscreen. Artist:John Porter Wale (1860-1920) John Porter Wale was born inWorcester, England in 1860. He studied at theWorcester School of Art. In 1874, he was employed atthe Worcester Royal Porcelain Company Ltd. (RoyalWorcester). In 1878, he was employed at the DerbyCrown Porcelain Company, Osmaston Road, Derby. He tooklodging with Mr. and Mrs. Moffat, 4 Oxford Street,Litchurch, Derby. His work included, and became knownfor, birds, butterflies, fish, flies, flowers, fruit,landscapes, leaves, mistletoe, seahorses, seascapes, andseaweed enamel on porcelain and painted on canvas. Thisversatility attributed to his becoming the head painter ofthe painting room. He designed numerous patterns inthe Derby Pattern Books. He continued art studies inthe evenings at the Derby School of Art. In 1896,Cuthbert Gresley was apprenticed to Wale as a chinapainter. At Derby, Wale’s work was displayed at theRoyal Watercolourists Society. He was also a member ofthe Derby Sketching Club. John Porter Wale died January1920.

Condition:The mill painting is in a good condition, the frame has wareand marks. The Garden scene has some fading anddiscolouration, it will appears brighter on a backlitscreen. the frame is worn and has losses as shown.
