For sale is an original vintage postcard ofJewish men carrying water, dated 1917.The historical scene is located in Lida Poland (White Russia, Belarus).The German caption reads "Judische Wassertrager in den Strassen von Lida. Diese Leute Versorgen die einzelnen Hauser mangles einer Wasserleitung mit Wasser gegen geringe Bezahlung". Lida was an old Jewish onclave where German occupation durring World War I led to forced labor. Bolsheviks entered the city in 1917 who were in turn followed by Polish soldiers in 1919. The cardmeasures about 5.5 inches wide, 3.5 inches high, the usual size.
