These tefillin are referred to as peshutim. They are approximately 50 years ago with boxes and very little wear to the boxes. The boxes are a little under 1\" square. The leather is soft and comfortable.

Please don\'t bother asking if these are kosher - it\'s a classic catch-22. The only way to seriously check the \'kosher ness\' of tefillin is to open them, which renders them non-kosher. You can rest assured that these are nicer than many sets that are given as loaners at synagogues. They would make a very generous bar/bat mitzvah gift.
