An unusual item.

At first glance not dissimilar to a loderein/peppermint box. However, on closer examination, the proportions are subtly different, inasmuch as it is shorter and wider than a loderein box.

Also the weight and gauge of silver are considerably better than most loderein boxes.

In very nice condition,with strong working hinge, close fitting lid and drop ring swivel finial.

Never having been engraved.

One very small bruise near base, and one or two tiny pimple bruises to underside.

This item is sold with a copy of Christies International Magazine dated November/December 1984 which shows, on page 159, a matching box contained within a ten piece circumcision set.

Bears full Dutch silver assay marks for 1825 and the maker\'s mark AK, probably Antonie Kramer.

Approximate dimensions: 3.3cm x 2.9cm x 2.3cm high.

Approximate weight: 19.1 grams.
