Country of Origin: This is a very rare itemin pewter, an antique pewter measure made by a Jewish pewter tradesman. For those aware of the restrictions in mostof the crafts of the early period, Jews were not permitted in most guildoriented trades. This lovely cylindricalone liter measure is made by: L. Bohlerand his address marked on this base is Juden Strasse 49, Berlin.It is also marked 90/10 indicating that it is 90% pure tin and 10% othermetals (normally copper, antimony and/or bismuth). The base also has a date mark verification of1888. The maker is listed in the reference: Allgemeiner Wohnung Sanzeigerfur Berlin,Charlotten Burg und Umgeburgen.
