JACK DAVIS JESSE JAMES and WILD BILL HICKOK HAND COLORED ILLUSTRATION PRINT - 1957 - 1962
For sale is a JACK DAVIS JESSE JAMES and WILD BILL HICKOK HAND COLORED ILLUSTRATION PRINT. This item is in excellent condition. The paper the print is on is slightly age tinted. These are Jack Davis cartoon illustrations. These prints are from the late 1950\'s to very early 1960\'s. Jack Davis was well known for his Mad magazine illustrations. These were probably sold through the Favorite Westerns of Filmland magazine which he also illustrated for. Each is mounted inside wood picture frames with glass. Each is marked in pencil on the frame backing O/C 7/60 and 8/60. The Wild Bill Hickok print measures about 14-7/8\" x 5-7/8\". Rel. 2nd is written on the frame back in black grease pencil. The Hickok print has more age tinting than the Jesse James. The Jesse James print displays a bit lighter and whiter. The Jesse James measures about 9-7/8\" x 3-7/8\". The frames are larger than the prints. I believe the O/C is used to abbreviate original copy. These may be numbers 7 of 60 and 8 of 60. I have been studying these prints as shown on the internet for a while. It appears to me that there are indeed variations in the hand coloring done on these illustrations in the series. Both are in great shape. Both display beautifully.
