ABOUT THE ARTIST & TECHNIQUE:
◆ Fine Art paintings are produced on hand made tile. \"Peinture Verre au feu\" (paintings of glass in fire), date back to 15th century France. The glazes when applied to handmade clay tile & fired to 2500 degrees, create exquisite color. These ceramic paintings have great durability in both interior and exterior applications.
◆ Jack and AJ Ferrell are known around the world in places such as Japan, Hawaii and even Sweden for their glazed tile paintings, which are works done on small ceramic tiles. This Washington State couple is well recognized for their collaborations on large scale \"museum quality\" CERAMIC TILE MURALS, which feature the colorful glazes created by Jack Ferrell. After they’re painted, liquid glass, or glaze, is baked onto the surface of the tiles at very high temperatures in a special oven called a kiln. Glazed tiles allow artists to produce an unlimited assortment of designs, hues and designs while also providing a shine as well as protection from dirt and water.
◆ Jack and AJ Ferrell - husband and wife - were born in the state of Washington. They are renowned particularly for the art form of \"Peinture Verre Au Feu\" - Paintings of glass in fire, from 15th century France.
◆ This painting is accomplished on a hand made clay tile background, which is a vehicle to present the exciting colorful glazes Jack Ferrell creates.
◆ Jack Ferrell studied ancient mural design and stone lithography in Stockholm Sweden at Konstfackskolan in 1962-1964. He later produced one of a kind bronze and metal sculpture, oils and print making. This was the main menu of his appetite at Central Washington University where he received his B.A.
◆ One may discern Pacific Rim influence in his patterns and pallet.

Her lightning figure sketches, striking between bites in gourmet cafes, and florals - often ribboned with creatures of the sea, leave a paper trail that winds from Washington to Hawaii, through San Francisco to Florida, Quebec City, Shanghai and Paris!
◆ “We loved working with the medium,” AJ Ferrell said. “There’s always excitement because you never know what’s going to come out of the kiln. It’s because of the unpredictability. It’s a high gloss.”
CONDITION: EXCELLENT CONDITION. Original purchaser was my mother, who passed away 6 years ago. It hung in her non-smoking & pet free beach home for the entire time she owned it (my home is also pet and smoke free). There is some very minor wear on the frame. Nothing has ever needed to be repaired. I have not been able to locate the original paperwork for this piece, which is why I am unsure of the name given it by the artist. Now that my mother has passed on, we are looking to find this piece of art a wonderful new home where it will be appreciated and loved as much as it was by my mother.
