This sale features incredible HAND PAINTED production art by GREG THEAKSTON. Mr. Theakston created hand-colored production art for the 1989/1990 HARDCOVER collection of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE CLASSIC YEARS (a TWO Volume HARDCOVER set collecting the Simon and Kirby stories from the first 10 issues of Captain America). Each page is colored in gorgeous watercolor, and was used as reference by the printer as a color guide when the hardcover was published. This page is numbered 9-31 (issue 9, page 31) and corresponds with Page 159 in Volume 2 of the hardcover edition. The story is entitled THE CASE OF THE BLACK TALON. It is fun to see classic JACK KIRBY and JOE SIMON art embellished with beautiful watercolors. Each of these official production art pieces measures 8 1/2 x 11. Many pages still have some tape residue on the top edges and even some color swatches in the margins used as reference as these were being painted. The COMPLETE SERIES of CAPTAIN AMERICA PRODUCTION ART was purchased directly from the artist by our gallery, and there are very few pages left.
