What a fabulousfind! This amazing solid sterling silver plate is the first in a seriesof five annual solid sterling silver collector’s plates. Each collector’splate in this series is individually etched and serially numbered by theFranklin Mint in solid sterling silver. “Alongthe Brandywine” is the first work in silvercreated by any member of the Wyeth family. It is the first in a series offive annual silver collector’s plates which the artist designed.

This lovely 1972James Wyeth plate measures 8” in diameter and is in great condition and comescomplete with preservation box, outer storage box, Certificate of Authenticity(Serial No. 2903) from the Franklin Mint, Collector’s Letter, and informationpamphlet. There is one small scratch (see pictures) and the price hasbeen reduced for this imperfection. The plate weighs an incredible 201.1grams of sterling silver.

In thismasterwork, the special beauty of silver actually becomes part of James Wyeth’sdesign. The rich tone of the precious metal complements the finelydetailed etching, while the brilliant reflectivity of silver helps capture thedaylight which filters through the trees and is mirrored in the waters of the BrandywineRiver.
