This is an incredible rare PAIR of MINIATURE Satsuma Pottery vases!They are in their original, silk-linedwooden box..They are both exquisitely decorated in continuous enamels and gold.
These vases have been treasured, and kept in their silk-lined wooden box.
TheyEACH have TWO Shimazu Mon marks in Gold, as seen on the neck of the vases.
They are from the Meiji period (1868-1912).
They measure 2.85\" (72.5mm) talland 2.84\" (73mm) tall........at their widest: 45.76mm wide, and 45.47mm. wide.
The blemish is approx. 3/16\".
They are signed on the bottoms as shown.
The box has the original sticker on the front, as seen.
***I can not do justice in describing the decoration, but I have attempted to show several views.They are not identical...They would be considered a \'mirrored set\'...as the dragons are facing each when displayed...One of them has 8 immortals or male figures, the other has 10...Each has a scroll...Because of the limitation on the amount of pictures, if you desire more photos, I can provide.
These are truly a gem! We have collected Satsuma, for over 35 years, and these are remarkable.
