Fantastically carved miniature figure of a Japanese long nosed demon, the bird-man Tengu blowing on a conch shell, making a terrifying sound, while monkeys cover their ears in horror. A long sword hangs by his side.
It is difficult to capture the detail in photos but it is very finely finished from a solid piece, details on the monkeys fur and the demons hair is particularly good. The carving is stained to highlight details. In excellent condition with just a tiny loss of colour at the back edge of the base.
