This is a Japanese Satsuma koro and cover decorated ibn overglaze enamels and gilding with scenes of a family of elders, women and children walking across country landscape in the snow with snow-covered trees in the background.

Tripod feet in the form of monkey devil faces. Upright gilded handles with a border below rim. Stunning cover decorated with a recumbent mythicial beast and pierced cloud forms.

Height to top of finial on cover 18 cm. Diameter 13 cm.

Tiny chip to one ear and horn of beast, rubbing to gilding, otherwise in very good condition.
