Jay Lynch Original Art. Giant 18 X 24" Painting . Underground Comix Looking. For Sale
This is a very large (18" x 24") piece of one-of-a-kind original art. It is painted in acrylic on a stretched canvas. In the images above I have shown a high contrast scan of the piece as well as a lighter scan so that you can see more of the detail. While I am known for my work on Wacky Packages and Garbage Pail Kids trading cards, this is NOT a character from either of those series. This is just a painting of some ugly monster guy, not necessarily a zombie. I just felt like doing this painting on my own. I just did it because I felt like it. I don't exactly know why. So therefore it is TRUE ART, right?
Not some commercial job. Actual fine art! I retain the copyright on the image. Some day I may print it somewhere. I have retained scans of it for this purpose. But if you win this sale, YOU get to own the original painting. Because of its large size, if you win this you must add $25 to the final price for shipping and handling. The thing is so large that it oughta' cost about that amount to ship it. This is a 7 day sale. Immediate payment is required. Now I am gonna say some other stuff so that people who search the titles and descriptions will wind up on this page. In the late 1960s, I published the first issue of BIJOU FUNNIES, one of the first three so-called "underground comix" ever published. In the pages of BIJOU FUNNIES I published the work of Robert Crumb and Art Spiegelman. In the early days, the underground comix didn't make much dough, so me and Crumb and Spiegelman also did work for Topps bubble gum designing their novelty trading cards. The underground comix were our first love then, though. The gum cards were just something we did to pay the rent. Now almost half a century has passed, and the underground comix are finally recognized as the most important art movement of the latter part of the 20th century. Thus, I have decided in my autumn years to devote more time to serious art which is more reflective of the spirit of the early underground comix, and this painting is a step I have taken in this direction. There is on this sale. Thanks for looking. And again, immediate payment is required, and $25 will be added to the final price for shipping and handling costs ~~~Jay Lynch
