The stickers set includes the following items:
  • TheHanukkahMenorah, also known as Chanukiah -TheHanukkahmenorahorchanukiahis a nine-branchedcandelabrumlit during the eight-dayholidayof Hanukkah, as opposed to theseven-branched menorahused in the ancient Temple or as a symbol. On each night of Hanukkah a new branch is lit. The ninth holder, called theshamash(\"helper\" or \"servant\"), is for a candle used to light all other candles and/or to be used as an extra light. To be kosher the shamash must be offset on a higher or lower plane than the main eight candles or oil lamps.

There are differing opinions as to whether or not all the lights must be arranged in a straight line,or if the channukiah can be arranged in a curve. The menorah is among the most widely produced articles ofJewish ceremonial art. The seven-branched menorah is a traditional symbol ofJudaism, along with theStar of David.

  • Sukkah -Asukkah(Hebrew:סוכה‎, plural,סוכותsukkot ;sukkoth, often translated as \"booth\") is a temporary hut constructed for use during the week-longJewishfestival ofSukkot.
  • Shofar -Ashofaris a musical instrument of ancient origin, made of ahorn, traditionally that of aram, used forJewishreligious purposes. Like the modernbugle, the shofar lacks pitch-altering devices. Allpitchcontrol is done by varying the player\'sembouchure. The shofar is blown insynagogueservices onRosh Hashanahand at the very end ofYom Kippur, and is also blown every weekday morning in the month ofElulrunning up to Rosh Hashanah.Shofars come in a variety of sizes and shapes, depending on the choice of animal and level of finish.
  • Pesah (Passover)
  • Symbols of Purim -Purimis aJewish holidaythat commemorates the saving of theJewishpeople fromHaman, who was planning to kill all the Jews. This took place in the ancientPersian Empire. The story is recorded in theBiblicalBook of Esther(Megillat Esterמגילת אסתר inHebrew).

According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royalvizierto KingAhasuerus(presumed to beXerxes IofPersia), planned to kill all the Jews in the empire, but his plans were foiled byMordecaiand his cousin and adopted daughterEsther, who had risen to become Queen of Persia. The day of deliverance became a day of feasting and rejoicing.

Based on the conclusions of the Scroll of Esther: \"[...] that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.\" Purim is therefore celebrated among Jews by:

    • Exchanging reciprocal gifts of food and drink known asmishloach manot
    • Donatingcharityto the poor known asmattanot la-evyonim
    • Eating a celebratory meal known as ase\'udat Purim
    • Public recitation (\"reading of the megillah\") of the Scroll of Esther, known askriat ha-megillah, usually insynagogue
    • Reciting additions, known asAl HaNissim, to the dailyprayersand thegrace after meals

Other customs include drinking wine or any other alcoholic beverage, wearing of masks and costumes, and public celebration.

Purim is celebrated annually according to theHebrew calendaron the 14th day of theHebrew monthofAdar(and on Adar II in Hebrew leap years that take place every 2 to 3 years), the day following the victory of the Jews over their enemies. In cities that were protected by a surrounding wall at the time of the BiblicalJoshua, Purim is instead celebrated on the 15th of the month of Adar on what is known asShushan Purim, since fighting in the walled city of Shushan continued through the 14th day of Adar.Today, onlyJerusalemand a few other cities celebrate Purim on the 15th of Adar.
